RSC Badminton
Rally With Us.
Fast, social, and year-round. Badminton is one of the easiest sports to pick up and one of the hardest to put down — and at RSC there’s a court and a partner waiting for you, whatever your level.
Badminton at Ronkonkoma Sports Club is about far more than the shuttlecock.
Badminton is one of the most accessible sports there is. You don’t need a big team, expensive gear, or years of training to have a genuinely good time on court. A racket, a shuttle, and someone on the other side of the net is enough. That low barrier is exactly why it fits what Ronkonkoma Sports Club set out to do back in 2000 — give this community somewhere to show up, play, and belong.
We’re a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and every session we hold exists because members organize it. There are no tryouts and no gatekeeping. Beginners who have never held a racket play on the same evenings as people who’ve competed for years, and that mix is the point. Sport is the excuse; the community is the reason.
Our youth coaching is where that matters most. Kids today have more reasons than ever to stay on a screen and fewer places to simply go and be active with other kids. Our coaching sessions are built to change that — teaching real technique rather than just supervising play. Young players learn footwork, grip, serve, and shot selection, and they learn them properly, because skills that actually improve are what keep a child coming back.
What they take home goes beyond badminton. Turning up on time. Losing a rally and resetting for the next one. Encouraging a teammate having a rough night. Those habits transfer to school, to work, and to every sport they’ll ever play.
Badminton also gives us something the outdoor sports can’t: a season that never stops. When Long Island winters push soccer and cricket off the field, the courts stay open. Families who want their kids moving year-round have somewhere to go, and our members keep the friendships going through the months when everything else is on hold.
Our aim is simple — make it easy for anyone in Ronkonkoma to pick up a racket, and make it worth their while to keep coming back.
